And so it begins... We are on the train from Milan to Vercelli ready to walk the first leg of the Via Francigena to Nicorvo. The walk today is a little longer than we were hoping for the first day. We tried finding accommodation at the first village of Robbio but none of the numbers we had would work and when Roberto (Maddie's host father) finally got through for us, the place was closed. So after lots of calls in animated Italian, we are heading to Nicorvo, about 6 hours walking out of Vercelli.
